One of the finest examples is this classic French preparation of fresh mussels gently steamed in a fragrant broth of white wine, garlic, shallots, butter, and fresh herbs. As the mussels open, they release their natural sweetness into the broth, creating a silky, savory sauce that's simply impossible to resist. The aroma alone will make you feel as though you've stepped into a charming seaside bistro along the French coast. Every tender, juicy mussel is infused with the delicate flavors of the wine and herbs, making each bite more delicious than the last. Be sure to serve plenty of warm, crusty bread because you'll want to soak up every last drop of the luxurious broth. Pair the meal with a chilled glass of crisp white wine, light a few candles, and you've created an elegant restaurant-quality dinner right at home. Best of all, this impressive dish comes together in minutes, proving that some of the most memorable meals are also the simplest. Enjoy!

- 2 pounds cleaned mussels
- 2 tablespoon2 unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 shallot sliced thinly
- 2 cloves garlic chopped
- 1/2 cup dry white wine
Prep the Mussels:
Place the mussels in a large bowl with 1/4 cup of salt and set aside for 15 minutes. This will allow the mussels to purge any debris. Carefully drain the mussels in a colander and give them a good rinse. Take a paper towel and grab onto the "beards and pull them off each mussel, and set the mussels carefully into a large bowl. Discard any opened mussels that do not close when lightly tapped on the counter or any cracked-shelled mussels.
Heat the oil and butter in a large pot over medium heat. Once the butter melts into the oil, add in the shallot and cook for 3 minutes.
Add in the garlic and cook for about 2 minutes over a medium-low heat.
Add the white wine and cook for 1 minute.
Add the mussels and carefully stir. Cover for about 8 minutes until all of the shells have opened.
Halfway into the cooking stir the mussels to distribute the sauce. Discard any unopened shells after 8-10 minutes.
Sprinkle on the parsley.
Serve in a deeper bowl with the sauce and serve with bread slices for dunking into the delicious sauce. Enjoy!
