Mashed ripe bananas are best.

Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
Add the brown sugar, egg, and vegetable oil to the mashed bananas. Mix well.
In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix thoroughly.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
Fold in the walnuts and chocolate chips gently into the batter.
Grease a muffin tin or use muffin liners and fill each muffin cup with the batter.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into a muffin comes out clean.
Let the muffins cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
These muffins are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for a few days.
