Broccolette. No that is not a misspelling, it’s an actual delicious vegetable that is a cross between broccoli and the Chinese kale called gai lan, also known as broccolini. Broccolette has a sweeter and milder taste than broccoli, so it may be easier to get someone to eat their greens.
This pretty vegetable not only makes a nice presentation, it is also packed with some dense nutrients that are so great for you. It contains, calcium, vitamin A, vitamin C, and iron. All of these nutrients play an active role in helping prevent heart disease, various cancers and can help decrease the risk of osteoporosis. So eat your greens and stay healthy!
To make this sidedish, just preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Rinse your broccolette and pat it dry. Cut off the ends, about 1/2 inch from the bottom. Take each stalk and slice in halve, lengthwise. Lay out onto a lined baking sheet.
Thinly slice some garlic and spread over the greens. Season with salt and pepper and drizzle with some extra virgin olive oil.
Place into your preheated oven and bake for 12 minutes. Drizzle with some fresh lemon juice.
