Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Ahhh, it’s that time of the year, my favorite time, Christmas time! It ‘s a time of joy, cheer, giving, sharing, eating, laughing and  being a bit more naughty than nice. We are all naughty at times and in our own naughty ways.

Eating healthy is being nice and good to ourselves, but eating naughty at times, well, it just feels good and naughty. That’s why gyms were invented. A place to go to repent for our sins. LOL. Let’s face it, it all begins right around Thanksgiving, a time to be thankful for what we have and also a great excuse to over indulge in food. To eat until we can not stand, sit or even lay down because our bellies have swollen like a hot air balloon. Ok, not all of us, but most of us. Then we all rub our bellies and say how full we are, and how we will work this off in the gym. Sure, it’s that building you walk by and keep walking by until you get home to eat some leftovers.

And so it begins- the eating frenzy. The gravies, stuffing, cookies, cakes, candies, holiday parties, and family gatherings with food that just screams heart attack. But, no matter where we live, we are all guilty of this indulgence. Ok, so it lasts for around 30 days, we still have the rest of the year to be good. I say, even if you indulge, go for a walk after or hit that gym you walk by, it may give you some added years to your life-to do this cycle again.

This season, no matter what holiday you celebrate, it’s a time to gather with family and friends and to share in the holiday joy of giving. I love to give special “naughty” treats that I prepare myself in the kitchen. Who can say no to a sweet cookie or a lemon cake? It’s always the right size or color and does not take up any room in the house. Well, maybe your tummy.

Even when I bake I keep it as healthy and organic as possible. I love to use fruits and nuts to make it a naturally sweet treat. So, if you are my friend and I will see you this holiday season you know what you’ll be receiving from me- some sweet edible treats. No gift receipt required. But as always, Enjoy!
