Beef Tenderloin with Portabello Mushrooms served on a bed of Arugula

beef tenderloin over arugula

This post is for all of my friends who have requested a “Meat” meal. This one is about as “meaty” as I can think of, and delicious!

I enjoy beef tenderloin the most. It has delicious flavor and is very tender. You really don’t need to eat a whole lot because it is so satisfying. You also do not need to just relegate this meal to once a year. Yes, it costs more than the other cuts of beef, but it is so worth it!  It’s nice to treat yourself on occasion.

For those of you that are looking to cut back on carbohydrates, and increase your protein intake, this is a non-carbohydrate food. Beef tenderloin contains 15 grams of protein in a 3 ounce serving. The protein helps build muscle for a leaner body. It is also a significant source of vitamin B6 and  vitamin B12. These vitamins help release energy from food.  It contains Zinc, which helps create a healthy immune system and heal wounds, phosphorus, for strong bones and teeth (you’ll need your teeth to eat the steak) and iron, to help carry oxygen in the blood to all cells and muscles to prevent fatigue.

So, not only is this delicious but also good for you! Now go and get the steak knives out and enjoy!
