Challah French Toast with Bananas
Challah bread is so delicious. It has this amazing buttery taste and is great for many uses other than just adding butter to it. Everyone loves French toast, so when I make French toast I use this delicious bread because it has this slight sweetness to it. You need to cut it into 1 ½ -2” thick slices and dredge it in the egg mixture. Bananas add so much protein and potassium that you can qualify this as a healthy breakfast.
Ingredients (Serves 1):
· 1/8 cup sugar free syrup
· 2 slices ½ inch thick challah bread
· 1 egg
· ¼ cup milk
· 1 teaspoon cinnamon
· Cooking spray
· 1 small banana
Preparation:
Cut 2 slices per person ½ inch thick challah bread. In a wider bowl add egg, milk, cinnamon and wisk until mixed. Heat a nonstick skillet with cooking spray and heat on medium low. Dip the bread on both sides in the egg mixture and place on skillet. Cook about 1 ½ minutes then flip over and cook an additional 1-1 /2 minutes. Place on plate and add sliced bananas. Drizzle syrup over.
My children loved the bananas. This was a nice variation on my typical recipe for French toast.
