I absolutely love mussels! Tonight I prepared them in white wine, a little bit of butter and parsley. They are so easy and quick to prepare (less than 12 minutes) and taste delicious!
Mussels are not only tasty but they also provide a high content of lean protein. They are low in calories (about 70 calories per 3 ounces), excellent source of selenium and vitamin B12, (which can give you an energy boost) and they are also a good source of omega-3 fatty acids. What’s good about eating mussels is that you have to take your time. You have to remove them from their shell. So you eat slower, which is better for digestion and it also prevents you from over eating. But then, I can eat a lot of mussels!
The cost of mussels varies depending on your geographic area, but generally are low in cost, about $4.00 per serving. And that is a big positive for your wallet.
So next time you are debating what to make for dinner that is healthy, light and delicious try some mussels and let me know how you like them! Enjoy!
